Just a few miles south of Playa del Carmen and three miles off the main highway into the dense jungle you’ll find something completely unexpected: an architectural masterpiece with vaulted ceilings and immense windows wrapped around a stunning swimming pool with a tree growing out of it. All the walls and ceilings are white in the modernist tradition (the architect-owner is Swedish) and from anywhere in the house you have astounding views out through the pool area into the surrounding jungle. The house is beautifully and comfortably furnished, and each room feels incredibly spacious. The vaulted ceilings help keep the house cooler and the roof was made to be able to grow natural plants and grasses to add insulation as well. Solar panels provide electricity and hot water—the house is completely off the grid and was built to be completely self-sustaining. It features three large bedrooms that can sleep up to eight guests each night
And when we say jungle, we really mean jungle! Like monkeys and toucans and the very-occasional jaguar. (No worries, no lions, tigers or bears!) You can hear the monkeys more than you can see them, but during most time of the year it’s possible to witness their daily treks through the trees. The property features several nature trails, and it’s possible to identify several of the many tree and plant species such as wild orchids.
Even better yet, very near the house is a “cenote,” a rift in the ground for which the Yucatan Peninsula is famous, and the jungle animals use it to quench their thirst. The cave it has created is an incredible experience. While many cenotes are simply pools of water at the bottom, this one is more like an open cave entrance. There are wet areas at the back but a large dry space near the grand entrance. Couldn’t you just imagine holding your wedding ceremony there, like a natural cathedral all lit up with candles everywhere? Magnificent!
Back by the swimming pool is a nice area to set up tables and chairs for your banquet and reception for up to 75 guests. The decorating possibilities are endless using the house and the pool as a backdrop!
This is a wonderful venue for those couples seeking a unique and unforgettable experience for your wedding. While many couples who come to the Mexican Caribbean are seeking the beach, this house offers an extraordinary alternative: a party in the topical jungle!

AIR: This area of Mexico is served by Cancun International Airport. Please check out our article [LINK HERE] on nonstop flights to Cancun from major North American airports.
LAND: The House in the Jungle is approximately 10 kilometers south of Playa del Carmen, off the main highway leading to Tulum. It can only be reached by car. We will work with you and with the house owner on directions and group transportation for any arriving guests.

In addition, there is a $500 event fee for up to 50 wedding guests and a $1000 event fee for between 51 and 75 guests. 75 is the maximum number of guests this property can handle.
DISCLAIMER: Guests enter the cenote area (exposed rocks) at their own risk. The villa is isolated with no medical assistance other than first-aid kits nearby. Neither house owners nor event planners will be held liable for any guest injuries.
