International air travel is heavily dependent on passenger demand, especially for seasonal destinations such as Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. There are quite a few more flights to these destinations in the winter high season than in the summer low season, and some cities in the U.S. and Canada may find themselves without any nonstop flights to these Mexican destinations in the summer. Most airlines discontinue these seasonal flights somewhere in April/May and then bring them back in October/November, at least in time for Thanksgiving in the U.S.
If you are planning your destination wedding in Mexico in the next year or so, the month you choose definitely will affect the frequency of flights from your home city to our Mexican destination airports. If you or some of your guests MUST have a nonstop flight, it’s important to consider this seasonality of airline scheduling when scheduling your wedding.
Here we have included a list of North American cities with nonstop flights to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta International Airports for this next winter.
You will notice that flights only connect Vallarta with hub cities in the Western U.S. and Canada (besides Atlanta), while major cities all over the U.S. and Canada have nonstop flights to Cancun.
Also, there is a great disparity on the number of flights per day depending on the day of the week. Saturdays seem to always be the busiest days.
