Shannon and Jason, a young couple from Calgary, Alberta, approached us on the recommendation of a local restaurant owner and were looking for a private villa for their understated and romantic wedding in November 2019. After an exhaustive search of the various options, the couple chose Casa Karma, one of the best-known private villas in the Conchas Chinas beachfront neighborhood in Puerto Vallarta. Then it was a yearlong process to plan all the details of their big day, and they were determined to DIY as much as they could!
Because her parents have been frequent Vallarta visitors for years, they were able to source many elements of the event locally, including many of the decorations. With our help, they and their volunteers did most of the floral arrangements onsite, and they brought many decorative elements with them from Canada. We added our normal range of services, including catering and banquet service, photography, hair/makeup, transportation, and planning.
The evening turned spectacular with an unparalleled sunset in the middle of the cocktail reception, and made for some incredible photos by Toms Cirksis of Avesol Photography! But afterwards, an unexpected little dark cloud appeared over the mountains and rained on our parade right in the middle of the steak course at dinner! Luckily, it wasn’t hard enough to really ruin everything, but we were forced to send everyone up to the bar temporarily for a few more toasts to let the cloud pass, and then move everyone back down to the terraces for dessert service. No harm, no foul! Whew!
Later, fireworks and dancing were the order for the evening, and no one wanted to leave at the end! Shannon and Jason were the ultimate easy couple to work with, and we really appreciate all their hard work and attention to detail! Cheers to the happy couple!
