This beautiful region on Mexico’s central Pacific coast has been associated with romance travel and destination weddings by extension ever since the early 1960s, when Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton fell in love on the set of “Night of the Iguana,” the movie that put Vallarta on the world tourism map forever! The house that they had built can still be found in the famed Gringo Gulch area of downtown Puerto Vallarta, featuring a bridge built across the narrow cobblestone street.
The city of Puerto Vallarta and its beautiful mountainous shore stretches south towards Mismaloya in the state of Jalisco. Same-sex marriages are now legal here, as of 2016, yet the number of such ceremonies still ranges in the low hundreds, so it is still a very fresh concept. We at Mexico Event Design believe that we are the first gay-owned and operated company specializing in providing wedding services to same-sex couples here in Mexico where ceremonies are legal!
Almost all the wedding venues we feature look out over the Bay of Banderas, the second-largest natural bay in North America, and mountains ring almost the entire sweep of the bay, providing outstanding and heart-stopping views. Here we feature dozens of private luxury villas, as well as a few small boutique hotels, large traditional hotels, and even a few all-inclusive resorts.
